Miss Russia-Oxana Federova
Oxana Gennadyevna Federova was born on 17 December 1977.She is a Russian Miss Universe winner,police officer(retired),former university lecturer,television host,actress,singer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.She became the first Miss Russia to win the Miss Universe title.She began in the entertainment business as a model and became Miss St Petersburg 1999 and Miss Russia 2001.The organization invited Oxana Federova to attend the pageant in 2001.But Federova said she couldn't compete because of her studies,and that she would compete in 2002.Her 2nd runner-up,Oxana Kalandyrets,compete instead and become a Top-10 finalist.In 2002 Federova won the contest.Oxana was born in Pskov,Russia,where she lived until she was 18.She is an only child, and she was brought by her and maternal grandparents.According to Federova,her grandparents were very demanding of her.Federova's parents were divorced when she was 3 years old.She did not hear from her father since then.In 2005,she tried to find her father,but discovered he has died.Her father was a nuclear physicist,and her mother worked as an nurse at a psychiatric hospital(retired).At the police academy,Federova played saxophone as a member of the brass band.

Oxana was crowned Miss Universe 2002 by Miss Universe 2001,Denise Quinones of Puerto Rico.Federova was dethroned 4 months later and first runner-up Justine Pasek of Panama took over the Miss Universe title.
